The Farmer and Nature Network (FNN) organises ten thousands of smallholder farmers. Through this organisation they gain strength when buying or selling, when participating in local government or when they adapt their farming to the many challenges of climate change. The associations also provide a certain political clout, which may be crucial e.g. in cases of attempted land grab.
CAFACA works exclusively through the local farmers’ associations, which in turn make agreements on tree planting with the communes and other local authorities. This collaboration ensures that the income goes towards the intended purposes. It also provides for an inexpensive transfer of money and knowledge between CAFACA and the farmers.
